Secretary General

Mohammad Atiya is a Political Science major at DePaul University and a civic organizer in Illinois. He has been involved in Model United Nations for over seven years, leading award-winning teams, mentoring delegates, and fostering a strong sense of community among his peers.

He is the founder of the DeMUN Conference, which he created to provide high school students with a unique, engaging, and accessible space to explore diplomacy, debate, international affairs, and leadership. Through DeMUN, Mohammad hopes to build a conference experience that not only challenges delegates academically, but also helps them feel welcomed, supported, and inspired.

In addition to his work with DePaul Model UN, Mohammad serves as Community Director at Model UN Academy, where he connects with MUN teams and clubs around the world through consulting, outreach, and educational programming. Through his leadership, he is passionate about making Model UN more accessible, engaging, and empowering for students.

After DePaul, Mohammad plans to attend law school and become a practicing attorney, continuing his commitment to advocacy, public service, and community leadership.

Under Secretary General

Anjana Kanakamedala is a Political Science major at DePaul University with minors in Public Health Studies and Economics. She has been involved in Model United Nations throughout her time at DePaul, serving as a Head Chair for DeMUN I and as the Under-Secretary-General of Communications and Finance for DeMUN II.

Through these roles, Anjana has helped organize conferences and create opportunities for students to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and engage with international affairs. She is passionate about fostering an engaging and supportive environment where delegates are empowered to become future changemakers.

After graduating from DePaul, Anjana plans to attend law school and pursue a career at the intersection of law, public policy, and public health.

Under Secretary General of Finance

Riya Chaudhari is an Honors Finance student at DePaul University pursuing a minor in Psychology on the pre-law track. She is passionate about the intersection of finance, law, and leadership, and enjoys using financial strategy to strengthen organizations while creating opportunities for students to grow. Her academic interests center on corporate finance, legal studies, and organizational leadership.

As Secretary General of Finance for DePaul Model United Nations, Riya oversees the organization’s financial operations, including budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation for conferences and member initiatives.

Outside of Model UN, Riya is a Staff Writer for the DePaul Undergraduate Law Review, where she researches and writes on emerging legal issues, case law, and public policy. She enjoys exploring the intersection of business and the law and is passionate about developing thoughtful solutions to complex challenges through research, collaboration, and leadership.

Following graduation, Riya plans to attend law school and pursue a career in financial law. She hopes to combine her background in finance with legal advocacy to advise businesses on complex financial matters while continuing to lead with integrity, curiosity, and a commitment to service

Under Secretary General of Crisis

Elysa Valeriano is a double major in Economics and Political Science at DePaul University. She has been involved in Model United Nations for the past two years and is especially passionate about crisis committees, where she continues to thrive and grow.

She has served as a Head Chair for the first two DeMUN conferences. During DeMUN II, Elysa oversaw one of the conference’s first crisis committees and is committed to building on the strong foundation established by her predecessors.

Beyond DeMUN, Elysa works as a swim instructor and takes pride in positively impacting her students. She is passionate about supporting the next generation of swimmers and helping them develop confidence both in and out the water. After graduation, Elysa plans to pursue a master’s degree and work in the public sector, where she hopes to leave her mark on the world.
